‘Carlsson Go Your Own Way’
Carlsson is the German Tuning and Styling Company exclusively for Mercedes-Benz cars. Formed in 1989 by Rolf and Andreas Hartge under the name of the company’s technical partner former Swedish rally driver Ingvar Carlsson.
Carlsson developments for enhancing the look and performance are proven by their continued participation in European touring car racing and 24 hour race at the Nürburgring.
The information gained allows Carlsson to assess the reliability and resistance to wear in endurance tests as vehicles are pushed to the limit.
The in house engine development test benches and electronics laboratory have given Carlsson the option to analysis the race data.
Thus market not only fully tuned engines, suspensions and braking systems but also give the customer an option to achieve 20% more power by installing their developed electronic fuel saving and performance boosting C-Tronic® units for Mercedes-Benz A Class to S Class CDI vehicles.
Diesel-power through Carlsson C-Tronic®
Fuel saving and performance boosting C-Tronic® CD22 and CD32 offers 20% more power and torque for all Mercedes-Benz common rail diesel from C to S Class.
With the C and E Class 220 CDI models there is a power increase of 34BHP from standard 170BHP to 204BHP and torque increase from 400 Nm to 480Nm. The result is one second off 0-100km/h time and no less than seven seconds off the 80-180km/h time.
The 320CDI engine models with the C-Tronic® CD32 unit installed produces a power increase of 42 BHP, standard 224BHP to 269BHP with the torque available between 1600 to 2300 rpm rising to a massive 612Nm.
The environment also benefits from the C-Tronic® diesel performance kits. Through the intelligent use of modern technology, the C-Tronic® reduces average fuel consumption and in the course of that CO2-emissions by 10%. At the same time it reduces pollutant emissions, slashing environmentally harmful gases, such as NOx, by around 10%.
Naturally, the C-Tronic® meets the special requirements of the particle filter in full and also shows the technological advantage of Carlsson engineering. The C-Tronic® takes account of all-important data from the particle-filter system, e.g., exhaust back pressure, exhaust temperature, when generating the increase in power to utilise them in the interests of a cleaner environment.
An alternative option from Carlsson is the C-Tronic® Diesel ECO kit, no more power but improved fuel consumption by 10% and torque up by 15%.
Tuning performance kits are available throughout the range for petrol engine cars. From four cylinders normally aspirated engines then to supercharges models and V6, V8 and V12 powered cars.
Performance boosting kit for the V8 6.3 litre engine
Following elaborate tests and extensive development, the Carlsson engineers have now produced the performance boosting kit for the V8 6.3 litre engine.
Depending on the AMG model, performance can be boosted by up to 52 hp. Torque rises to a maximum of 680 Nm. Consequently, the SL 63 AMG with the Carlsson CK63 S-kit reaches a top speed of approximately 200 mph (electronically limited).
Tuning performance kits range from compressor pulley kits, sports air filters, camshafts, exhaust systems and Carlsson own developed superchargers for the normally aspirated engines.
Brake and suspension kits
Up rated brake and suspension kits are available including the C-Tronic® suspension kits for SL, S Class and CL vehicles lowering a further 30mm at the touch of a button and the GL500 by 35mm gives a more sporting look.
The C-Tronic® SUSPENSION not only lowers the centre of gravity but also, thanks to the sophisticated technology, interacts intelligently with the road surface.
On poor roads on which the suspension has to work hard, the car’s ride height is automatically adjusted to ensure the spring travelling remaining is sufficient for constant ride comfort.
Drivers notice the effects of the C-Tronic® lowering via a reduced tendency to roll and considerably more agile handling.
Carlsson Wheel and Tyre Sets
Carlsson wheel and tyre sets are available throughout the current range from A Class to GL with option sizes for the 2/11BE and 1/11 EVO BE styles up to 11 x 22” rims 305/35ZR22 tyres.
Carlsson Aerodynamic Styling Kits
Aerodynamic styling kits developed from Carlsson racing data are available for standard vehicles as well as AMG models creating greater downward impetus thus ensuring greater stability at high speeds.
Interior re-styling can be customised to individual requirements using the finest nappa leather, combinations of Alcantara and leather, multimedia conversion or appointments in carbon and precious wood. Sports steering wheels in leather/Alcantara or leather/wood, speedo and gauge units, accelerator and brake pedals, SLK roll bars are all accessories available from Carlsson.
